Cell: The House of Genetic                                Material-I

Let’s get into the cellular level in basic with highlights on genetic material.

Body of living being is composed of cells. They are very tiny particles which cannot be seen with necked eyes. A device is needed to visualise the cell called microscope. This device magnifies the size is of cell many times so that it can be visualised.

Now, the cell is composed of both organic and inorganic compounds. There are many parts found in and out side of the cell. Few are living as well as few are not. Living parts are generally known as organelles and non living are as inclusions.

There are mainly three layers of the cell: i. outer protective layer

ii. Inner space for suspending cell parts( cytoplasm)

iii. The nucleus

For the purpose of the genetic (hereditary) material we go through deep to the nucleus. It is obvious that there is few hereditary particles found in the cytoplasm. The majority lie on the nucleus. Nucleoplasm and chromosomes etc. are the major constituents of the nucleus.

A thread like structure found within the nucleus and is solely responsible for the hereditary trait transmission is chromosomes in general speaking.
